The 2012 Geneva Motor Show marked the first appearance of the INFINITI Essence concept car. More conservative in approach than some concept models, it still drew attention thanks to its attractive update of classic designs from years gone by. A year later, the INFINITI Essence proved not to be a fluke; many of its design cues would make an encore appearance in the 2017 INFINITI Q50

The car received a refresh for the 2016 model year that updated the Direct Adaptive Steering system, as well as adding features like Dynamic Digital Suspension, drive mode selection, and tweaks intended to make the 3.0t trim more sporty. A new Q50 Red Sport 400 edition was also introduced. New engines came into the lineup as well — a 400 horsepower V6 engine for the Red Sport, a two-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for the 2.0t trim, and a 3.0-liter engine tuned to different horsepower ratings on the 3.0t models.

The 2017 INFINITI Q50 keeps most of the 2016 model intact, but it gets a refreshed interior, two new exterior color options, and a new optional Bose audio system with 13 speakers. A new Designer Pack interior option package lets customers choose between Java Brown or Graphite leather, wood veneers, and other touches that make the INFINITI Q50 a rolling sanctuary.

Drivers love new INFINITI cars, but it seems like some models don’t spend as much time in the spotlight as others. While the 2017 INFINITI Q60 is enjoying a well-deserved moment in the spotlight, it’s also worth taking a closer look at the 2017 INFINITI Q50 and the other new INFINITI cars featured at Kearny Mesa INFINITI .
